Oh, If Only I was a 17th Century Poet! I must confess that writing Jeff’s dialogue when he goes into random soliloquies is perhaps what I enjoy most so far while working on Mark of the Beast (besides the profound sense of accomplishment I get three times a week). I’ll definitely have to fight the urge to overuse the whole joke though, because I can see how it would get tiresome to people other than me after a while.

Jeff’s random, exasperated cat is a step or two improved from last week’s Higgins. I think the trap I fall into with the artwork sometimes is aiming for something too realistic, which just ends in frustration and disappointment on my end. I shouldn’t badmouth my own work this much, but the artwork for the comic now will most likely be pretty far removed from the art a few months from now as I improve, figure out what I’m doing, and settle on a style.

As an aside, I don’t really know much about anime. Naruto may or may not live in a forest, but I’m sure he has visited one. If he does, the joke fits. If he does not, then Jeff obviously just wants Naruto to run away with him to live in the forest.
